It looks like Dell has actually released their Android-based Venue smartphone. This one is quite similar to the Venue Pro but it's running the Android (2.2) OS and doesn't have a slide-up portrait QWERTY keyboard. It's available right now on the company's official website for $499.99 contract-free and you can choose between a T-Mobile and an AT&T model. Check it out on Dell.

Dell Announces the Venue; 4.1-Inch AMOLED, 8MP Camera, and Android 2.2
Yes, that's right folks! Dell has officially announced the Android-based Venue - not to be confused with the Windows Phone 7 powered Venue Pro. This features a 4.1-inch Gorilla Glass AMOLED display, a 1GHz CPU, an 8MP camera, Flash 10.1 support, and Android 2.2 with the Stage UI. Dell has promised that they'll give us more details in a few weeks so maybe we'll be seeing this one again at MWC.

GCF Approves Of the Dell Venue and Venue Pro Handsets
Something has just snuck through to get its GCF certificate and it's the Dell Venue and the Dell Venue Pro. The first handset is the Android-based model with no QWERTY keyboard, while the second is one of the best WP7-based handsets to date. Both of them feature quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE along with tri-band UMTS/HSDPA 900/1700/2100 MHz connectivity. Now all we have to do is wait for that Venue to launch in North America.

Dell Venue Hitting Korean Carrier, KT, Later This Month With Android 2.2
Known as the Dell Thunder when it first leaked out, the Dell Venue has been officially announced by the carrier KT, in Korea. The Dell Venue is quite similar to the Windows Phone 7 powered Venue Pro, but it doesn't have the slide-out portrait QWERTY keyboard and it actually runs Android 2.2. So, that means you still get a 4.1-inch touchscreen WVGA (Gorilla Glass) display, a microSD card slot, WiFi / Bluetooth support, an upgraded 8MP AF camera with an LED flash and 720p HD video recording, and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. This handset will be available on the carrier later this month and should cost you around 700,000 won ($608 USD). This is the only launch we know of right now so if it is North American bound, we'll likely find out early next year.

Dell Venue (aka Thunder) Hits the FCC Again, Good Enough For T-Mobile USA (1700MHz 3G Bands)
The Dell Venue aka the Thunder has just hit the FCC again. This time it has the model code V03B002 and it's sporting 3G bands (1700MHz AWS) perfect for T-Mobile in the USA - the other model (here) was for AT&T in the US along with Rogers, Bell, and Telus in Canada. This is definitely great news. Remember that the Venue is similar to the Venue Pro spec-wise but it sports Android - instead of Windows Phone 7 - and does not have the portrait slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Check it out at the FCC.

Dell Thunder To Launch as the Dell Venue Says the FCC
The first thing I thought of when the Dell Venue Pro got official was what the non-Pro model was. It looks like my question may have been answered. Apparently, the Dell Thunder, which has popped up a couple of times, may actually launch as the Dell Venue (V03B) according to the FCC. Specs are just about the same except this one doesn't have a portrait slide-up QWERTY keyboard. The weird thing about this whole fiasco is that the Venue / Thunder will be running Android, while the Venue Pro is running on Windows Phone 7. Check it out at the FCC and it has also been spotted at the Bluetooth SIG.
