Motorola XOOM To Hit Telus On April 19th, HP Touchpad This Summer For $499

Two bits of information coming from Mobile Syrup regarding tablets in Canada. First off, the WiFi-only Motorola XOOM which is already available at Best Buy will be hitting Telus on April 19th. Price should be the same, so expect it for $599.99 - that's a 32GB model.

The other tablet is the 9.7-inch HP Touchpad that'll be running webOS 3.0. We already know this one should be launching in the Summer and it's looking like it'll be in June / July and the price tag seems to be $499. Yes, that's lower than the XOOM but I believe that'll be a 16GB model and it only has a front-facing camera. Of course, on the inside the Touchpad packs a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon which is a bit faster than the Tegra 2 in the XOOM. Interesting stuff, for sure!

Samsung Galaxy S II To Hit Canada In Early Q3, USA To Follow?

There's two superphones I'm waiting for this year: the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S II. We know nothing about the first one launching in Canada yet but it's obvious that the Galaxy S II will eventually find its way to the Great White North. During a Nexus S event this morning, Samsung's VP, Paul Brennan, stated that the Galaxy S II will likely launch in early Q3 (September). That's great news but it is quite a lengthy wait. Furthermore, Canada may reportedly get this device before the US does which would be extremely shocking.

Motorola Testing a 7-Inch "Gingerbread" Tablet That's Rugged?

Motorola looks like they're testing a new tablet that's unfortunately running just Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" if the picture above is anything to go by. Thankfully, the rest of the spec sheet is looking great so hopefully they'll upgrade the OS before the release. This unnamed tablet reportedly features a 7-inch LCD display, a dual-core 1GHz OMAP 4 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, an 8MP rear-facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi a/b/g/n support, and a USB port for good measure.

That's not all though because this one's apparently a rugged tablet and the battery life will be good enough for 5 and a half hours of video streaming. On the rugged side, this tablet will withstand a four foot drop, extreme temperatures / dust, and some water. Who knows when or if this tablet will hit the market.
