Samsung Announces the Rugged Series 6 Notebook With Core i7 CPU

Samsung has just announced their latest notebook and it's the new Series 6 which is quite rugged. It has been tested extensively and reached the MIL-STD-810G standard to withstand quite a bit of shock. The notebook is built out of Duracase ProMG magnesium which can withstand 1 ton of pressure and it packs a spill-resistant keyboard and anti-shock HDD tech. Internals include: a Core i7 CPU, a Nvidia GPU, USB 3.0 ports, an integrated webcam, and an anti-reflective LCD display.

Motorola Testing a 7-Inch "Gingerbread" Tablet That's Rugged?

Motorola looks like they're testing a new tablet that's unfortunately running just Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" if the picture above is anything to go by. Thankfully, the rest of the spec sheet is looking great so hopefully they'll upgrade the OS before the release. This unnamed tablet reportedly features a 7-inch LCD display, a dual-core 1GHz OMAP 4 CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, an 8MP rear-facing camera, Bluetooth 2.1 / WiFi a/b/g/n support, and a USB port for good measure.

That's not all though because this one's apparently a rugged tablet and the battery life will be good enough for 5 and a half hours of video streaming. On the rugged side, this tablet will withstand a four foot drop, extreme temperatures / dust, and some water. Who knows when or if this tablet will hit the market.

Telus Releases the Motorola Defy For As Little As $79.99

Telus has just released their latest Android smartphone and it's a rugged one. Yes, it's the Motorola Defy which is now available on the carrier for $79.99 on a 3-year contract, $279.99 on a 2-year contract, $329.99 on a 1-year contract, and $379.99 contract-free. That's a pretty good price for a rugged Android phone so you might want to give this one a look.

This handset features a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass display with a 480 x 854 resolution, a microSD card slot, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 2.1 support, an 800MHz CPU, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, and Android 2.2. Check it out at Telus.

Telus To Release the Rugged Motorola Defy

Telus looks like they have another smartphone in the pipes and this time it's the rugged Motorola Defy which will be running Android 2.2 along with the Blur UI. This handset will be hitting the carrier soon but the price and official release date wasn't mentioned. The handset itself has a 3.7-inch Gorilla Glass WVGA (480 x 854 resolution) display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, WiFi b/g/n / Bluetooth 2.1 support, and a microSD card slot. Since it's a rugged one you can expect this one to launch for $149 to $199 on a 3-year contract - at least that's my guess.

Rugged Motorola WX450 Hits the FCC, On Its Way To AT&T

A new Motorola handset, the WX450, has just checked into the FCC. This handset will be fairly rugged and it'll be good enough for AT&T in the USA since it's got the logo on the lower left of the d-pad. This one will actually be a bit rugged and will be good for those who just like to text message everyone since it's got a QWERTY keyboard. Specs and release date are still unknown right now but maybe it'll be official soon. Check it out at the FCC in the meantime.

Toshiba Unveils Waterproof Regza Android Powered Smartphone With 12MP Camera and NFC

Toshiba has just unveiled their latest smartphone and this one will be a part of their growing Regza line-up. This smartphone features a 4-inch display with a 480 x 854 resolution, a 12MP camera, a front-facing camera, a 14.7mm thick body, NFC capabilities, and Android 2.1 with a custom UI. This handset is also waterproof in case you couldn't make that out in the photo above. That's some pretty awesome stuff but who knows how long this will take to hit the market. This probably won't even be hitting North America anyway. Check out the video below if you want to see a bit more.

Motion Computing Unveils Rugged 10.1-Inch Windows 7 Tablet, Digitizer Friendly

A company called Motion Computing has just unveiled their latest Windows 7 [Professional] tablet, dubbed the CL900. This one is sporting a 10.1-inch display (1,366 x 768 resolution) along with Intel's Oak Trail Atom CPU. You'll also find dual-cameras, a USB port, a microSD card slot, and a SIM card slot on this tablet in case you're interested in it.

Specs aren't all that matter here because this tablet is actually MIL-STD-810G certified so it'll survive a four-foot drop thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass display. Engadget also mentioned that this tablet has a capacitive layer on the touchscreen but you'll be able to use an active digitizer on the display as well for note-taking. Thankfully, it was reportedly "quite smooth and responsive" but I wonder how it fares against Asus' Eee Pad MeMO. This tablet is expected to hit the market for "less than $1,000" so if you're looking for something like this and have the money then you'll have to wait until this one hits the market.

T-Mobile Makes a Page For the Motorola Defy, Launching Sooner Than Expected?

T-Mobile should be getting a new Android smartphone soon and it'll be coming from Motorola. The rugged Defy should be available soon sporting a 3.7-inch WVGA Gorilla Glass display, a 5MP AF camera with an LED flash, and the Blur UI. When this smartphone was announced we heard that it'll be available before the holiday season so I was assuming a November launch - maybe that's not the case anymore. It's not available yet but you can check it out on T-Mobile for the time being.
