Android-Based Rugged Motorola i886 Handset Hits Sprint

Sprint may have released the EVO Shift 4G from HTC but that's not the only new Android phone they launched. The carrier has also released the Motorola i886 which runs an unknown version of Android. The i886 features a 2MP camera, Stereo Bluetooth / GPS support, a microSD card slot, a numeric keypad, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and it's 810G military certified so it's quite the rugged phone. This is all going for $79.99 on a 2-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate if you're interested.

Sprint Getting the Samsung Galaxy Tab On November 14th, Motorola i886 In January, and White EVO 4G Hitting Stores Soon

A bunch of new devices are headed to Sprint very soon, and they've been tipped thanks to this new leak. First off, the Samsung Galaxy Tab (the Samsung P1 tablet), will reportedly be available on November 14th. The mid-end Android-based Motorola i886 will also reportedly be available in a few months, on January 9th, which is pretty far away. I guess we'll be seeing it at CES 2011 if that's the case.

And yes, the white HTC EVO 4G which is already available at Best Buy will be hitting Best Buy stores on November 14th.

An upcoming Motorola handset has just been approved by the FCC (here) and the user manual has just leaked out and it's for the i886. This will be an Android handset and will sport Bluetooth support, PTT functionalities, GPS support, a 2MP camera, a microSD card slot, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Price, release date, and the carrier it will launch are still all unknown so we'll have to wait around for those important factors.
