Rogers Dummy Units Pop Up Across the Nation; Dell Streak, BlackBerry Bold 9780, and Samsung Galaxy S Captivate

A few new Rogers dummy units are starting to get shipped to stores and the first one is above. Pictured beside an iPhone 4 in the above photo is a dummy unit of the Dell Streak, which will be hitting Rogers in Canada in early November. This one features a 5-inch touchscreen display, a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 5MP AF camera with a dual-LED flash, a VGA front-facing camera, 512MB of ROM / SDRAM, a microSD card slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, WiFi / Bluetooth / GPS support, a 1,530mAh battery, and Android 1.6 that should be getting an upgrade to 2.1 soon after.

What you see directly above is the dummy unit of the BlackBerry Bold 9780, which is just a slight upgrade over the Bold 9700. This one just got official yesterday and all that you need to know it that is has OS 6.0 pre-installed which comes with the new and improved WebKit browser. It should be available sometime in November.

It took them long enough. Yes, the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate is finally starting to arrive in stores after a couple of months of waiting. Not much left to tell you here, but they're probably already sold out at this point - I'm kidding, but it'll be rare to find one.

Rogers Releases the Long Overdue Samsung Galaxy S Captivate, Limited Quantities

After months of waiting, you can now get the Samsung Captivate in Canada, via Rogers. The smartphone is available right now for $149.99 on a 2-year contract if you are eligible for a HUP until November 2nd ($179.99 if you're not) and for $549.99 contract-free. This smartphone packs a 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5MP AF camera with 720p HD video recording, a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, Bluetooth 3.0 / WiFi support, a microSD card slot, 16GB of internal storage, and Android 2.1 with the Touchwiz UI. I'm getting one later today - unless they're out of stock already.

It's not available online yet so you'll have to get out of your seat and head to your nearest store. Apparently, if you call the Call Centre you'll be able to get this for $499.99 contract-free.

Update: It's now available online, it's on Rogers right now.

Rogers "Officially" Set To Release the Samsung Captivate On October 25th

After months of delays Rogers has officially announced that they'll be launching the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate on October 25th. Apparently, the delay was because of a shortage of Super AMOLED displays and "limited inventory." Either way, it's good to see that the wait will really will over in four days. Rogers has delayed this smartphone countless times at this point, but hopefully the 25th will really be the day. It'll be available for $149.99 on a 2-year contract and $549.99 contract-free.

Rogers Changes the Pre-Order Details On the Samsung Captivate

So much for it launching this week because it probably won't anymore. On Rogers' own site, the pre-order details are now set to expire on October 24th for the Samsung Captivate - it used to be October 20th. There's not much left to tell you really, but I am very tired of waiting for this. I'm thinking of just picking this one up contract-free then trading it for a Desire Z at this point.

God, finally! Rogers has just announced that they're going to be launching the Samsung Captivate sometime next week. On their own website they say that the Captivate pre-orders expire on October 20th so it'll likely launch on October 21st which is 7 days from now! Finally, gosh, I've been waiting for this smartphone forever. $149.99 on a 3-year contract and $549.99 contract-free - in case you forgot. Rogers has updated their RedBoard post (here).

Update: My friends at The Cellular Guru has just mentioned that this smartphone could actually launch as early as October 18th!

Since I'm stalking the Samsung Captivate on Rogers' own website I just found out the contract-free price. A quick search on their website reveals that the Samsung Captivate will be available for $149.99 on a 3-year contract (we already know that) and it will also cost you $549.99 contract-free.
