Acer Releases New TimelineX Notebooks With "Sandy Bridge" In Taiwan

If you live in Taiwan then, lucky you! Acer has just released their latest TimelineX notebooks over there and they're packing the new Intel "Sandy Bridge" CPUs which is much faster than the old models of last year. The whole line-up has been refreshed, so that's the 13.3, 14, and 15.6-inch models. The smallest model features an Intel Core i3-2310M CPU while the other two pack a Core i4-2410M which is great.

Inside you'll find Nvidia's GT540M GPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a 640GB HDD, USB 3.0 ports, and there's a 1,366 x 768 LED-backlit display that you'll be staring at all the time. Of course, being thin and light notebooks they're pretty expensive starting at around NT$32,900 ($1,133 USD) to NT$39,900 ($1,374 USD). Pick one up if you want to; we don't know when it'll hit North America yet.

Altek (A14) Leo Equipped With a 14MP Camera Launching This Month

According to the latest word from Altek, the A14 Leo will actually be available in both Taiwan and China later this month. Other regions that should be getting this handset in Q2 of this year will be Russia and India. This handset packs a 3.2-inch WVGA multitouch display, WiFi b/g/n / GPS support, HSDPA connectivity, an 800MHz CPU, a microSD card slot, Android 2.1, and most importantly a 14MP AF camera with a xenon flash and 3x optical zoom. Quite the cameraphone, indeed! DigiTimes has also mentioned that the company will release another handset before the end of the year and it'll launch with Android 2.2 or 2.3.

Motorola's "Honeycomb" Tablet Leaks In Taiwan, Specs Included

Someone from Mobile01 is claiming that they have got their hands on a Motorola "Honeycomb" powered tablet and wasn't shy showing it off. This guy from Taiwan claims that there'll be 7 and 10-inch models of this tablet from Motorola and Rubin may have had the larger model when he showed up at D: Dive Into Mobile earlier this week. Specs for this tablet, according to this Taiwanese guy, are a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a dual-core Nvidia Tegra II T20 chip, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a 2MP front-facing camera, a gyroscope, a microSD card slot, and 32GB of internal storage.

According to this guy, this tablet will be available in UMTS, CDMA, and even LTE models which sounds great to me. This tablet does have 3D live wallpaper in check but the OS itself does need a bit of work right now. Of course, it's not final so I'm pretty confident Google will have everything ready for launch day.

Next iPad To Have Retina Display, Dual Cameras, USB Port, and More?

Coming from a Taiwan source is a few rumours regarding the next Apple iPad. Apparently, the iPad will have a 9.7-inch Retina (LCD) Display, two dock connectors (that patents have hinted at many times), a USB port, a thinner and (slightly) smaller body, rear and front-facing cameras, and a 3-axis gyroscope. The launch for this one could be right on cue with the first one, so we could be seeing a late Winter / early Spring launch date (the iPad was announced in January and was released in April).

Earlier rumours said that the next iPad could also be a global tablet so we'll see if that actually comes true.

Coming from DigiTimes is a bit of information that Acer plans to unveil two tablets on November 23rd in New York and one of them will be 7-inches running Android 2.2. Specs are unknown right now but we're hoping that it'll get a quick upgrade to Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" since it should be launching in the next couple of weeks / days. At the same event, Acer will also unveil a 10-inch Wintel-built Windows 7 based tablet as well so that's good news if you want to run a full-blown OS.
