If you're in China and you don't want to pick up a Motorola Atrix or an LG Optimus 2X then there are other phones on the market with a Tegra 2 chipset. The one you see above is the K-Touch W700 which is going to be hitting China Unicom in the future with some version of Android. Other specs reportedly include a 3.8-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera, a 0.3MP front-facing camera, and 512MB of RAM. This one looks like it'll be launching for HK$4,200 which is right around $540 USD.

Samsung Shows Off 55-Inch Glasses-Free 3DTV Prototype At FPD
Samsung has just shown off a glimpse of the future. At FPD China they have unveiled a large 55-inch glasses-free 3DTV prototype which was actually working pretty good. The display reportedly has 9 different angles where you can watch the 3D from and, of course, you can switch it to 2D mode whenever you want. Unfortunately, they mentioned that this technology probably won't be ready for the mainstream until 3 years down the road.

HTC Ignite and Prime Photos Leaks, Possibly Running WP7 For Mid 2011
Two new possible Windows Phone 7 phones have just leaked from XDA.cn (here and here). The handset above is rumoured to be launching in mid 2011 and could be the HTC Ignite. Specs are unknown right now but they should be fairly good since Microsoft has minimal requirements on smartphones running their OS. With that in mind, let's hope that this one raises the bar for WP7 handsets.
The one below is reportedly the HTC Prime. This one reportedly features a 3.7-inch WVGA display, a 5MP camera, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Yup, it's a traditional WP7 handset that doesn't really raise the bar from the HTC 7 Pro. It does look a bit better though - and thinner.

Lenovo Reveals Their Android-Based LePad Tablet, With Docking Station
Lenovo has finally revealed their Android-based tablet, dubbed the LePad. This tablet reportedly features a 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution, a 320GB HDD, a front-facing webcam, WCDMA / EVDO connectivity, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3GHz Snapdragon CPU, and version 2.2 of the OS. Of course, the company decided to put their own customized UI over top of it and they call it LeOS. This tablet will reportedly cost $520 when it hits the market which is actually a bit expensive for the device.
This device may actually remind you of the U1 Hybrid concept from Lenovo because you'll be able to dock it to make it act more like a netbook. If you attach the tablet to the base then you'll be running on an Intel Core i5-540UM ULV 1.2GHz CPU (optional Core i7 CPU) along with 2GB of RAM. The Hybrid base will reportedly cost $1,300 which is absolutely ridiculous. Note that these prices are set for China when they'll be available in the coming months. There's no word on a North American release right now so prices may be different. Additionally, Lenovo has mentioned that this may not hit the US until it's running Android 3.0 "Honeycomb" so we could be waiting for quite a long time.

Samsung Set To Release Android-Based W899 Flip Smartphone
Samsung is seriously about taking the first spot from Nokia for global market share in the phone space and they're doing so with the help of Google's Android OS. They have a bunch of form factors right now and here's a new one. The handset you see above and below is the W899 which is going to be running Android 2.2 "Froyo" when it hits the market. Yes, it's a flip phone.
Don't call it a feature phone though because it has external / internal 3.3-inch AMOLED multitouch displays, a 5MP rear-facing camera, a front-facing VGA camera, a 1GHz CPU, a microSD card slot, and 512MB of internal storage. If you still love flip phones then this one's definitely raising the standards. Sadly, it'll only be available on China Telecom.

Mobile Internet Very Popular in China
For many people in China, the mobile Web is the Web. Not only do many homes in China not have (or need) landlines for voice communications, but also they don’t require hardwired Internet access for their fix of the Web.
With mobile phones, everything they need is in the palm of their hand.
The majority of consumers (54 percent) use their devices for applications including email, gaming and music, while 36 percent used their phones for text, SMS and voice only. Another 10 percent said they used their phones for calls only.
Mobile consumers in China also have surpassed their American counterparts when it comes to using the devices to access the Internet.
About 38 percent of Chinese mobile subscribers access the Internet from their mobiles, compared to 27 percent of American mobile subscribers. That is not so surprising since many Chinese consumers only access the Internet from their mobiles.

China a High Cost Producer?
China has a "problem," caused by its success. Before the recession it was clearly the low cost provider of goods among the largest nations of the world.
It has only been in the last year or so that China’s cost of labor has spiked up, notes 247wallstreet analyst Doug McIntyre. As did the Asian Tigers and Japan before it, China is on the way to becoming a country that will progressively move up the value chain in its hardware businesses, for example.

As did the Asian Tigers and Japan before it, China is on the way to becoming a country that will progressively move up the value chain in its hardware businesses, for example.
The country is the victim of its own success as Japan was, in a sense. It has a large middle class, rising wage rates and will have to create an internal market for its goods, rather than focusing on exporting.
